It's pretty much a perfect rating with 3 stars, well done fellow Yelpers. This place is owned by the same people who own Joe Fish next door. It's the lesser of the two for sure. The menu is standard, no signature items are going to wow you, but they have daily specials. The calamari and meatloaf are favorites, as are the house made chips, cornbread and coleslaw. The prices are high for the quality and portion side. The atmosphere is typical, but loud if you sit at the bar downstairs. The service has always been bad here from the bored looking hosts to the waitstatff being uninformed of the menu and slow to return to the table. On my last trip in, I asked for a minute more with the menu and was given 20 with an empty beer glass in front of me even though the place was dead. With not much else in the area, this would be a passable place for a bite, but is by no means a destination restaurant.

I love this place. I went here last week with my elderly parents and my daughter. I have been going to the loft for at least twenty years and even though the menu has changed a few times, its only gotten better. We had a very nice meal and the service was great! We sat downstairs in the 'bar' area where there is full service and high top tables. I have sat upstairs too, where there is another small bar and a few nice dining rooms. The entrance to the restaurant is in the big restored grain silo which stands about 50 feet high. The drinks were great and the food was well seasoned and perfectly cooked. Our waitress was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the menu and even asked the chef about food restrictions for my mother!

This is the place to which I compare anything that even looks like an old barn down here now. It was the goto place to take guests when living in NE. Their steaks and lobster Mac-N-Cheese is all you need here, and their burgers are great! One day I will get back for the lobster Mac n cheese.

Worst dining experience ever . Our waitress , Kathleen , waited about 15 minutes to take our drink order but did apologize. Asked if we wanted rolls while we waited for our food we said yes and they weren't brought to the table until our food arrived . I asked for cheddar on my burger it was some sort of cheese whiz type sauce . Awful . We also had a to go order to bring home I asked when our food was served when would be the best time to order she said she would put it in right then . When she finally got around to giving us the check I asked about the to go order and she had forgotten . Again another apology . She then disappeared for a half hour we had to ask the hostess to find her finally got out of there . 2 hours and $60 dollars I'll never get back . I'm a good tipper and this is the first time I have ever not tipped . Won't be back anytime soon

Order the mini lobster mac. was excellent till about halfway through then it became very watery. Table Pub chips are nice touch and keep you drinking with the light salty goodness. I also had a burger that was cooked to perfection. (medium) I would however stay away from the cheese spread/sauce, orange, pasty. Everything else was good, service, bartender, drinks. $5 Grey Goose All Day Everyday.
(3)charles s.
Only reason why I gave 1 star is because the waitress was nice and accommodating. We ordered the zucchini fries, they were great. Tried a beer that was different, it was good. The "special ribs", not so good. Tasted cheap and horrible. The first time I received them, they were ice cold in the center. Waitress apologized, manager came by......But never asked to take it off the menu. Never again. Wow, the loft is exactly that.....will be an empty "loft" if they continue to serve paying patrons like that!

Fried calamari was the best I ever had. Seriously, the best ever. Entrees were excellent. Service was great. This was my first visit, but it won't be my last.

Tried and true, this restaurant always stays in our rotation around here. Delicious steak every time. I always get the petite filet (just enough) with the maple-glazed carrots (when they have them...please, bring them back!) and usually a side salad. You don't need more than that when there's that awesome bread basket. The corn bread in there is excellent! They also give complimentary homemade potato chips while you're waiting, and they always indulge my boyfriend in some of their thousand island dressing to dip them in. So bad for you, but sooo good! He almost always gets the Phantom's Favorite, which is consistently excellent. The smashed potatoes are delicious...I always steal some off his plate. :) We always sit downstairs, as we find it more intimate and warm than the upstairs restaurant. I have to compliment Luanne (sorry if I'm misspelling the name), who always seems to be our bartender. She is always on top of things and has a friendly smile for everyone. I went in there one night after having burned my finger on my curling iron, and she saw me dipping my finger in my ice water (haha!). Next thing you know, she's rummaging around behind the bar for a bag to put some ice in so I could hold it on my finger. Now that's service! Love this place. 5 stars! (Just realized I've already reviewed this restaurant, but I don't care...I needed to give the bartender a shout-out!)
(5)Samantha P.
I've been here three times and all three times I have sat at the bar. Both bartenders we had within those three visits were incredible. Charming and friendly. The $5.00 grey goose drink special is well worth the trip. Give the corned beef egg rolls a shot. One of the best apps I have ever had. This place is a gem. Love it.
(4)Shawn S.
Not very friendly! Food is questionable at best. Familys have to pass through upstairs bar and server station to get to seating. I'm sure the main focus on this business is to profit before giving . message to owner would be, pay attention and give back. Your staff is rebelling.
(1)Lin M.
Three times so I guess I am ready to review. The faux old tavern atmosphere is nice especially on a cold winter day. Sit by the fire and keep warm. I have yet to eat upstairs but I love the downstairs, service is good. Food is very good. If you are looking for comfort food this place is it. The Mac n Cheese is very good. Burgers are good. So was the Firecracker Chicken Sandwich which is Cajun grilled chicken breast on a brioche roll with chipotle pepper aioli, onion rings bacon and melted pepper jack cheese. On the weekend they have prime rib which was very good. In fact they will replace our previous prime rib joint. If we have a hankering we'll be going here.
(4)Rocket C.
Never had a bad meal here. Service is friendly--not gourmet-restaurant attentive, but fine. Portions are generous. Kitchen is attentive to food allergies.
(4)Katy M.
My family are regulars here; this is the kind of place people like to come back to for a casual family dinner. We always sit downstairs because the environment captures more of that comfort feel than the upstairs seating. As for the food, there are some really good items and some okay items. The mac and cheese variations are definitely worth coming here for. The complimentary chips and cornbread are also a nice little treat. I usually get one of their steak or chicken dishes, which are always decent, but nothing spectacular.
(3)Donna V.
Had a bit of a mix up with reservations and Management and Staff could not have been nicer or accommodating. Food very good and atmosphere nice. I highly recommend this place.
(5)James W.
I had a great burger neatly made and tasted great and came tomato free as requested. Nothing short of amazing, taste and quality never compromised
(4)Dave D.
No sure if they are under new management but the past few visits here have all ended with disappointment. The petite sirloin was very fatty and overly salted. Last trip I was given the wrong sides and the sides I was given were cold. Manager did not seem overly concerned with any of the issues. Since we have to drive to go there we will not be returning.
(2)Sean R.
Average American pub grub....apps were pretty good (pulled pork/corned beef egg rolls and fried pickles) but the entrees were very dissapointing!!! My 12 oz sirloin was cooked ok but was very thin and not satisfying and the chicken parm redefined was just a chix breast butterflied with melted cheese over shaved zucchini and cherry tomatoes...good idea but needs some more pop! $5 goose drinks were tasty but were def weaksauce! Would come back again but won't go out of my way...

We stopped in on a whim because we heard it was good. We ate at the bar. The service was good. The menu is geared towards carb heavy "home style" cooking. There was an extensive menu. I couldn't understand why it was so pricey until I saw "phantom" on one of the menu items. Our food, while good, was nothing extraordinary. I'm not really a penny pincher but I hate price gouging. For example, the cobb salad does not contain chicken and it's 5.99 to add it. So you pay almost $20 for a salad. Not sure that we would return with so many nearby options.
(2)Cecilia J.
Mmmmm. So this place is a bit pricey, but the food is really good. I can't really explain how it's really good though? You can just kind of tell that it's finely made with care. A step up from your chain restaurants with the same kind of menu (Texas Roadhouse, Outback, Longhorn's, etc.). The Loft is a real steakhouse place, with a menu featuring mostly meats and your traditional American sides and comfort foods. Portions are big but not overwhelming. Waitstaff is attentive and patient. It's kind of cool looking inside. The restaurant is housed in what looks like a big red barn. The first floor is bopping with dressed up young'uns (30- and 40-something year olds) around the bar and live music, while the upstairs has tables for meal service. The decor is dark, rustic, wood with an old-style country flair. The clientele upstairs for dinner was older. Complementary fresh warm bread was complementary, fresh, and warm. Always a plus. We ordered some sort of artichoke cheesy dip thing with tortilla chips as an appetizer because we spied the table next to us ordering the same thing, and it looked delicious. And it totally was. The baby back ribs were falling off the bone and the perfect amount of smoky sweetness. My dad ordered some sort of steak. I don't remember exactly what kind but I tried a piece and it was juicy and tender and of great quality. Would definitely be back regularly if it weren't for the price. For me, this is a special treat kind of place.
(4)Sandra D.
Great experience! The manager and staff went out of there way to accommodate my requests. Went to the loft for the first time tonight and wasn't sure what to expect based on the mixed reviews. But was craving a steak so figured I would try. After being seated upstairs, which I agree with other reviewers with being a little out of the way, I was originally surprised by the menu and lack of options for steaks. (Heads up, it's transitioning from a steakhouse to trad American). I am very particular about the types of steak I like so figured I'd at least ask if they offered different steaks off the menu. The waitress was great. Very polite and answered every question I had. After hearing my requests, the GM came over and personally took care of my order. I received everything I asked, steak was cooked perfectly (I like it rare which is surprisingly hard to get right at most places), and the GM even came back to make sure everything was perfect. I was very pleasantly surprised (and grateful) by the service and for accommodating my requests. Will definitely be back. Dropped a star because seating is a little awkward to get to and drink menu is predictable.
(4)Cristina P.
Their bread/corn bread is yummy. Food is B-. Server barely had a personality. We did have to evacuate the restaurant because of the fire alarm going off and they did not take a cent off our bill, mind you it's winter and cold out. Not sure if I'd return.
(3)Mikaela T.
I came here on valentines day. The ribs were outstanding! They fell right off the bone. The crab cake and steak was okay, but nothing in comparison to the ribs. The Mac n cheese was also very good. I wish they had a better desert selection. The service wasn't outstanding, but it wasn't bad. I'll be back!
(4)Brady C.
The atmosphere is great and the staff is friendly enough. I had the filet mignon which was tasty but unfortunately very salty. Overall very good and worth a trip for casual dining.
(3)Robin W.
I love the atmosphere of this place, especially the weird etched glass in the upstairs dining room, depicting some devil farmers that look like Children of the Corn. The food is good enough but I have yet to find their best item. The lobster mac n cheese is tasty but really rich. I ordered a 1/2 portion (for 12.99) and I could barely finish it because it was so luscious. Also had some wings that were pleasantly flavored but too scrawny. I know there is a chicken wing drought that is plaguing the US but these were just so sad and puny. The bread basket with cornbread is awesome. Also they had $5 Grey Goose on special when we went, which is really awesome.
(3)Julie H.
This was my first experience at the Bar area at The Loft. Terry the bartender was a pretty cool guy! I told him all about Yelp! and how it works and he really liked the idea of it! They had a better than mediocre beer selection, but not outstanding. I had a nicely poured black and blue, but the glasses they use for the 22 oz pour just don't allow for proper layering. They need straight glasses for that. They served us complimentary home-made chips, which were freakin' awesome! We had two helpings. I got a cobb salad, which was very good, but I was a bit disappointed in their dressing selection. Not many low-fat/ fat-free options other than vinaigrettes. Not my fave. The Hub got a burger and loved it. I know sometimes you can get 2 for 1 coupons in the local leaflets that go out. That would be a worthwhile trip.

Stumbled upon The Loft Restaurant when visiting some friends in North Andover. I LOVED the atmosphere of the place. The all wood interior gives it a warm feel. The waitress was pretty friendly. I ordered the fish and chips and they were pretty standard. I wish they had some seasoning in the batter or on the fish. Sadly the minuscule lemon wedge which was primarily rind didn't really lend any help to the otherwise flavorless fish. I will say the cole slaw that came on the side was some of the best i've ever consumed, and the fries were pretty good too. My cohorts ordered the Pot Roast dinner and the fancy gouda grilled cheese. They both loved their respective dishes. They appeared to have had a pretty decent beer selection. It was a wee bit early in the day for me to order a pint, but when i'm in town next i'll definitely give the loft another shot and order something different.
(3)Carmen L.
Excellent service and food A little pricey and the food took a while but well worth it. Ask for a bowel of daily made chips for the wait and an ample drink A gotta try place
(5)Russel W.
I've been going to the loft for years, and they do a good job on food and drinks. However, nothing really justifies their prices. it's $25+ a head here, and the food is average. some of my friends have said the same looking at the menu, I believe they even have a burger that's over $20. I just feel like I can get similar food way cheaper, or spend this kind of scratch somewhere higher end.
(3)Amanda L.
I really liked it here! Fun and inventive drinks (mango martini could have been a little colder) and tasty comfort food. Had a great burger and tasted my niece's chowder which was good. Shared apps with the table and there was lots to go around. Over all a nice comfort food, sport bar type joint, nice for a Sunday afternoon.
(3)Changun S.
+: lobster Mac and cheese was great, fries were crispy, service friendly.. -: inside too dark, a little dingy, portion of fries were small oVeRALL: food was gd but atmosphere needs a revamp!!!

Meh. My sister and her boyfriend are big fans of this place and I've seen it on Phantom Gourmet a few times, so I was curious. My boyfriend and I decided to make it a date night. The restaurant itself is pretty nice, though I found myself worrying that I would completely wipe out on the step down in the "loft" section. I know that in a lot of the Yelp reviews people said that they were seated in the upstairs and forgotten, which is the way we felt at first. We were greeted almost immediately, but then didn't see our waitress for a good 15 minutes after she put our drinks down without saying a word. Once she came to take our order, however, she was much more attentive (which could be because most of the crowd had started to leave and they were cutting servers). She was very friendly and joked with us and we ended up really enjoying the service. Our appetizer came out quickly but the meal took a while. I was really disappointed with the food. My boyfriend and I both ordered the top sirloin, which we assumed would be really good. We both ordered it medium and, though the middle was pink, it was the driest piece of meat I've had in a long time. In addition, it was just plain bland. I had to cover it in A1 just to get it down. The mashed potatoes were delicious and creamy and the broccoli was steamed just right. Overall, the meal was not worth the price though. I can get a way better steak at the 99 for $13 versus their $18. Final verdict: if I were in the area and people wanted to eat there, I'd go. However, I will not be driving up from Boston to go there again.

Date nite w/ my wife, we shared mac&ch lobster app. Cheesy goodness. My wife had the rueben sandwich & fries, I had steak & crab Oscar w/ asparagus over mashed potatoes. The only thing I didn't do was lick the plate clean. Awesome dinner for the both of us. Win, Win!

There is a small civil war in our house when The Loft comes up in conversation as the place to go for the evening. This past weekend it was mentioned again, and we went in for some drinks and dinner. We were a little nervous going around 7pm because it is usually packed, but I think the recent storm might have kept people home for the night. We waited about half a pint's worth of Guinness, and were brought to our seat by the fire. I personally think The Loft is pretty good, but a victim of what I call "Phantom Gourmet-itis". That is the condition that results from over promotion on The Phantom Gourmet which leads to slightly higher prices, and items that are touted as fantastic, that aren't really that great. For example, we had the Nor'easter dessert which is nothing more than a sundae with a few Chips Ahoy cookies and some dry ice which serves as a small smoke screen to hide the fact that you are just eating some overpriced ice cream. Also, when menu items have the words "A Phantom Favorite" or something similar in the title, you should know that it will be overpriced and probably not that great. I had the Big Bang burger which was fine, but not a $16 burger. I mean, come on. It had a few pieces of ribs on top, but if there was a whole rib worth of meat on there, I would be surprised. Also, the cole slaw was nothing more than that from a jar. For $16, I would expect a few ribs and some homemade slaw. Its just cabbage and vinegar for the most part...pretty straight forward. On a positive note, the onion rings are really good, and aptly priced. They are breaded well and not greasy at all. Now if these were $16 I could understand! And the house made potato chips are real good as well. These are worth $10 as well! Also, our waitress was top notch and very attentive. She could tell we were there to take things slow and have a few dozen drinks, and she was always there when the glasses were empty, and never rushed us to order or to turn over the table. She was the best (I think her name was Sara). The beers are good, as are the mixed drinks...this place really gets 3.5 stars due to our server, the drinks and the onion rings, but Yelp doesn't give half stars. The civil war will continue, but we will also keep going back on occasion. Its a good choice locally for some items, just take your Phantom Gourmet-itis vaccine before going!
(3)Anna V.
My boyfriend and I frequent this place often and would consider it our "go to" spot. We absolutley love the barn/bar feel, the dim lights, and the cozy comfort we feel when we want dinner and a drink. My boyfriend and I are obsessed with lobster mac and cheese. I personally love the bleu cheese haddock casserole. I've tried a bit of everything from the menu, including their burgers, and I have never been dissapointed!
(5)Io S.
Cozy, old-school atmosphere, with some tasty if conventional steak and seafood dishes. They might have been a pioneer with the lobster mac & cheese (at least it's the first place I ever heard that had it), but now that's become almost commonplace. Overpriced drinks and occasionally slow bartenders, even on a relatively dead night early in the week. Knock an average of 15 bucks off the total check and the place would be a solid 3.5 stars, easy. Nice clientele, not the best parking lot. A good choice if you don't mind overpaying for lunch a little. Cheaper and not as good as Burton's up the road a piece, but I'd still keep driving and opt for Grassfield's in Shawsheen, though.
(2)Janice A.
For what our total of bill was and word of mouth, I def was disappointed and expected better. Received our lobster mac & cheese app which we were excited about but the lobster was tough. The waitress, at first, I felt couldn't be bothered but was ok throughout the meal. She joked w/ my 2 year old which always scores points. My husband got the scallops which were awesome so I'm glad he enjoyed his meal. My steak tips were ok, pieces of toughness on the outside, broccoli cooked perfect and mashed potatoes were great. The decor upstairs in OK, little outdated but it was a nice comfy atmosphere. I always, always give places another shot and maybe I'll get the scallops next time.

So after hearing about The Loft for a year straight on Phantom Gourmet, we could no longer resist the calling of this establishment. Maybe my expectations were really high, and I subconsciously wanted this to be a really great place, but I couldn't help leaving pretty satisfied, so the average of 3 stars kinda threw me a little. While the actual building and decor is nice, the atmosphere, and the customers surrounding us, took away from the experience. We were sitting in a booth, and on one side a group of four 50something women were discussing at length a) office affairs b) how drunk they wanted to get, and c) the fact that one of the women's vagina had "fallen out" - and on the other side was a man, whom upon receiving and tasting his meal, declared "I LIKE THIS" extremely loud and about 10 times. Really, guy? That being said, I have nothing but great things to say about the food. I got the chicken parm, which was humongous, cooked perfectly, and COVERED in cheese. Others in my party got the pot roast dinner, and the lobster mac and cheese, and both were praised. Overall, yeah, the menu is a bit pricey, but the real reason I wanted to come here was... The NOREASTER. Oh God, yes. Ever since I first saw this beast on Phantom Gourmet, I knew I had to have it. And at only $11.99, I could've eaten two. This thing was INSANE - mounds of brownies and cookies wedged underneath heaping piles of ice cream and whipped cream with caramel and raspberry syrup all over the place. Definitely wear sweat pants if you plan to conquer this one. Plus, the dry ice is really fun to put into a leftover drink and watch the glass turn freezing and the bubbles move the ice. Yeah, I'm an adult.
(4)Leslie L.
Good food quaint ambiance ... Has this rustic farmhouse log cabin feel. Good for date night I think or meeting up with some friends to grab a drink. Friendly staff. I like it and I think it's a place to check out for yourself.
(5)Christina K.
Had my friend's birthday dinner here, so it was a large group of us, however we were the only ones in the upstairs dining. They only had one server on the floor, which I was slightly weary about as I had made a reservation earlier that week. Wouldn't they have gotten another server to also be on the floor? But anyways, back on the review... The food was just ok. It wasn't anything to write home about, and it was something I could make at home. The ribs was tender, but not very juicy. The steak dishes were just ok, nothing that we all couldn't have made at home on the grill. Going to a steak house, I would have expected something better than what I could made at home, but I was not impressed at all. So for service, as we were really the only ones on the upstairs dining, it was ok. I would have though they would have gotten another server to also aid her, we had a large party (13-15 people). I had even called earlier that week because we had so many people. Since she was by herself, it was fine. If I was to come back, I would hope the food would be a little better. But I have no plans on returning in the near future.

Something different. Had the Loft's Lobster Mac and Cheese combo, it was really good, it probably could have been more lobster. Helpful service, good prices on food and well prepared.
(3)Thomas A.
* We hadn't been to The Loft in more years than we'd care to count. It wasn't because we had a bad experience; we just never seemed to make it back there. Shame on us. We hit The Loft on a rare Monday evening when it was very quiet. We had the place pretty much to ourselves. The service was friendly and the food was simple but very, very good. My wife ordered the Farmhouse salad - mixed greens with diced apples, bleu cheese, dried cranberries and walnuts. Served with house dressing. She loved it! For myself, nothing less comfortable than the Grilled Rueben Stack -thinly sliced corned beef stacked on Rye bread with melted Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, and Russian dressing. Excellent. And the homemade potato chips served with pre-dinner drinks are to die for! Really enjoyed ourselves. Suffice to say it another decade plus won't pass before they see our smiling faces again!
(4)Amanda H.
My husband and Iwent to the loft for dinner and we had very bad service as well as bad food. I ordered a filet and I asked for medium and they butterflied it with out asking. I have had better steak from frendlys. My husbands piece of steak was an absolute joke, it was so tough and was mostly fat and grisle. The lobster mac and cheese was terrible and tasted so fishy. Over priced and awful food. NO STARS.....
(1)Taryn W.
I chose this location because my husband and I were meeting friends for lunch who live in NH. Seeing as it is a half way point and the Phantom Gourmet raves about restaurant I thought we'd give it a try. I had made a reservation online prior to our lunch but they didn't have it when my friends had arrived before us. I guess it didn't matter because the place was rather empty for such a "hot spot" on a Sunday afternoon but it was clean (though dark) and the waitress was very nice and attentive. We had the spinach dip as an appetizer and that was good enough. My husband and I both had a cup of clam chowder and that was tasty but the entrees were less than stellar. I had the baked haddock with broccoli and steak fries. Half the fires were crispy, half were soggy. The haddock was completely tasteless. My husband had the ribs which were fine enough but he had a stomach ache the rest of the evening and never ate another thing for the rest of the night. One friend had the jambalaya which he said was okay and my other friend had the steak oscar. She commented that her crab cake tasted like tuna fish and she didn't eat the entire thing. I definitely wouldn't come back here and wouldn't suggest anyone else does. You can eat at the 99 for less money and tastier food. This was a total let down.
(2)Dee S.
Definitely worth the drive. Kristina was our waitress and she was wonderful. Very personable. We got to know her a little and will be asking for her the next time we go. I had a banana flavored martini. It was so good that I asked Kristina for the ingredients. She wrote them down for me and even told my how many parts of what. They have a good selection of beers and Kristina was very knowledgeable. For an app. we had the fried pickles. That's right. Fried pickles. I have never heard of such thing and was pleasantly surprised. However, I don't recommend them with the banana drink. Not a good combo. I had the Jambalaya. Although it needed more meat and less hot peppers, the flavor was spot on! Very clean and comfortable. I will be going back soon.
(3)Daniel N.
Went here with our two young boys. Our seat was near the kitchen so it was loud. Food and service were good. No kids menu. We did not get appetizers or desserts but it was over $90 after tipping. Yes its in a cool barn but there are much more budget friendly options around for the same food.
(2)Jay M.
This place is excellent! The pepperjack spinach dip is super good! I asked them to make me a dish that wasn't on the menu. They were happy to make me Buffalo chicken Mac and cheese and it was fantastic! I suggested that they add it to their menu it was so good! Great food and great service! One of my favorite places to eat!
(5)Marta S.
We decided to try The Loft after it appeared on a restaurant listing at our hotel. Great decision!!! The ambiance of the restaurant is excellent and the food was extraordinary as well! The place has history, which is always a soft spot for me, and it was actually an old barn which gave it tons of charm! We arrived around 6:30pm on a Monday night, and while the bar was full, we were seated promptly at a high top near the bar and served right away. (Our whole meal only took 45 minutes!) I should mention that I cannot speak for the upstairs, since we never saw the upstairs however, the bar area/downstairs dining area was super quaint and cozy in a trendy sort of way! I had the Macho Nacho Mac and Cheese which was AWESOME! We had peeked at the menu on-line before leaving the hotel and it caught my attention then so I knew what I wanted when I walked in! My sister ordered Chicken Parm, which she said was saucy but tasty. My meal came with a side salad which really wasn't necessary, and both of us shared a basket of bread, standard for all upon ordering. The rolls were great and the cornbread was sweet and warm!!! The portions were large! I also ordered a drink, the Almond Joy cocktail. It tasted just as the title implied, which I was very happy with! Overall, our experience was excellent and we would both definitely recommend this restaurant to others in the area, both local and tourists!

An OK restaurant a little expensive for what you get. Their signature dish lobster mac n' cheese is good although I am not personally a fan of this dish. I prefer my lobster steamed with butter. The steaks are good but you will be able to get the same quality at other establishments. The seafood is also very good but again you can get comparable quality for much less money at numerous other restaurants or fish shacks. The atmosphere is nice and if you want to go out and enjoy a meal and don't mind paying a little extra this is a good option.

Nick was a great bar tender.. We told him we had never been here And he told us the best meals as well as drinks and a little history of the restaurant.. It was a great experience overall :)

So, I had to go with okay on this one. I've been to the Loft a few times now, and each experince differs slightly from the first. I try not to repeat a selection when checking out something the first few times, so I've tried a few different plates. The first visit I had their ribs, man... were those suckers fantastic. Tender, falling off the bone meat, but still had a bit of bite to them. Savory bbq flavor, good sauce, something I would definitely recommend. My second and third visit are a bit mixed. At one visit I had their delmonico steak... which was huge by the way... but not that tasty. The meat was a little tuff, and lacked any real flavoring. It wasn't the worst steak I've had, but it's not a plate I would recommend. Their hamburgers aren't to bad, but reminds me of something you could get from the local chain (and not fast food chain). Good flavor, juicy, and real meat - but nothing that really makes it stand out from any of the others in the area. Not a bad spot to check out, and the atmosphere has a dive bar feel to it, but it's still kind of cozy and comfortable. If you're in the area, check it out.

1.5. Not a 2. I can't totally pan this place because the wait staff was pleasant (and cute) and their steak fries and bread are yum. But there needs to be more happening at a restaurant than that for a 2. My family has been going to The Loft for years. I only dimly understand why. My parents like a predictable place with food they recognize. The Loft provides that. They like to sit in the bar as they wait for their table and drink their stingers and get loaded. They like to sit in the "big room" and will wait for a table if necessary (hence the stingers). Allegedly, The Loft has really good baby back ribs. I'm not an expert in this area, and it's been a very long time since I had them. I remember that they tasted good. What's the problem with this place? First, there's been almost no change in the menu in like twenty years, no joke. Which wouldn't be a problem if it had been a deep menu with really great-tasting choices. Sadly, this is not the case. Additionally, I had a truly bad experience there recently. Here in New England, I have certain expectations for seafood. I expect it to be fresh and well-prepared. I decided to go with a "new" item: a combo of clam chowder and crab cakes. Apparently, The Loft's clam chowder is "award-winning," and fortunately, it did live up to its acclaim. Then I put a piece of crab cake in my mouth. I still shudder thinking about what I tasted. It tasted like rotten parsnips. My companion said they smelled like oven cleaner. They were inedible. I couldn't even swallow the one bite I put in my mouth. They took it away, apologized profusely and promptly brought me an alternative of fish and chips. They told me that the fish was great. It was okay. Too much batter; I had to hunt for fish. My dinner companion had a Reuben. He liked it, but he was done with his meal before I even received my replacement and had to wait for me to finish. The owner or manager did come over and apologize. He gave me his card and said that the crab cakes were "out of rotation" and should not have gone out. I appreciate his sincerity. Then he said that the server would "take care of me." But they didn't discount my meal -- just took off the crab cake meal. I sort of feel that I shouldn't have had to pay for the replacement, or should have had a discount or free beer or something. It wasn't as if I just didn't like the first dish. It was rotten.

Phantom Gourmet led me astray. I've tried this place 3 times. Twice with just 1 other person and the 3rd time with a group of 10. All three times my meal was "meh". The drinks are great- tasty martinis in flavors like "Washington Apple". The appetizers were OK - I've had the fried dumpings and the flatbread pizza. Both were enjoyable. The scallops and bacon were rubbery and WAY too salty. I had heard RAV reviews of the lobster mac and cheese. It was all lies. It's just mac and cheese (with kinda bland sauce) and chunks of lobster meat - MEH. That's it? I expected magic. It's also $19 and really isn't THAT big of a portion. I've never had steak here, ironically - but my brother said it was "marginal" on our last visit. The wait staff is mezzo mezzo - kind of flaky and very busy catering towards regulars @ the bar. That annoys me. Overall, not worth the drive or the price.
(2)Mike G.
I rarely have a good meal here. Lobster mac and cheese had an aftertaste, calimari was too spicy. I'm not a fan of the atmosphere either, can get very loud.
(2)Frederik W.
Had the signature Loft Burger, a burger with pastrami, really good, different. Wife had cheeseburger, liked they would cook it medium rare. Although the cheddar cheese was more of a cheese whiz not sliced. Basic food, not great but not bad. Looks like a local hangout. People at bar seemed to know others arriving. Would go back if in the area. Not bad pricing, appetizer, 2 burgers and drinks for a total of $45

Dined here two or three times a few months back...with toddlers...in the upstairs dining room. Great burgers, good beer...friendly waitstaff! The Loft could use a facelift...just a little dated...but that won't stop us from returning!
(4)Steve N.
The bacon double cheeseburger with a side of lobster mac and cheese was pricey but so worth it.
(3)Milkessa C.
Try the sirloin steak tips, by far the best tasting steak I've had in the area!!!
(4)Jennifer M.
Great Atmosphere, Great food! Nice to visit a place like this instead of one of the chain restaurants.

Okay went in 2-13-2012 for my bday. I did not expect all that much attention cause I had been celebrating it all weekend. Unfortunately I felt like the waiter almost avoided my, alright that may be an exageration but not much. The fact that I asked for bread and did not get it until I had cleared my plate has to say something. Anyway I saw the manager on the way out and told him of my experience. He gave me a gift card and based on trying to make up for the experiece goes far. I guess my waiter is new but they still need to monitor his work closer as many a custormer will be lost. The steak-filet and the other member of my party; NY srtip were both very good. The mashed was also great!

We made the drive to The Loft after rave reviews from my neighbor. I went there knowing full well that I was on a mission -- and that mission was Lobster Mac & Cheese. I have to say, though, that I wasn't blown away. The decor was like any other pub and the menu didn't have that many exciting features. As for my mission, it was tasty -- but sadly it was nothing special. The lobster chunks were plentiful, but the cheese sauce was severely lacking. Well, mission accomplished but I see no reason to go out of my way when I can find this delicacy elsewhere. And so, I plow onward. . .
(3)Ashley M.
Don't waste your time! They packed us into a small room when other areas of the restaurant were empty. I was so close to the party next to us I was having dinner with them. The food was barely edible. The Lobster MAC was fishy and our calamari was over cooked. My broiled scallops had an inedible crust on them which ruined the flavor. The final straw was when the service staff sat at the table next to us and began rolling silver. I don't think I will give them a second chance!
(1)Rebekah B.
Everything was great but the service was a bit off, bringing us waters instead of napkins as asked for and little things like that. The two hostesses were nowhere to be seen when we came in (and for about 5 minutes) and then told us there was a 20 min wait when here wasn't one at all, which was obvious to anyone looking into the bar area. The food was wonderful though!
(4)Lucy P.
I agree that the Loft is pricey, but it's worth it because the food is pretty damn good. I sort of cheaped out when I came here this weekend. I split a bunch of appetizers and then shared a meal. Everything was great though. I had the french onion soup, which was probably the best I've had anywhere so far. The broth was super flavorful and it wasn't overloaded with cheese, but had a good amount. I also tried the clam chowder which was good as well. Thick and creamy, clams were tasty. One of the other apps I tried were the scallops wrapped in bacon. Now , this was sort of pricey, 8 scallops for $9.99. I mean, these are expensice everywhere so I can't really say much. They were very good though. For the meal I split the bacon cheeseburger, which I asked for well done and it came just right. Big burger, glad I decided to split after all those appetizers. Also had a few sips of the sangria. It was around $7.95 a glass but it was good sangria. Not too fruity. The place is cozy. I think I prefer the downstairs to the upstairs though. The upstairs is a little crowded and the floor kind of shakes when people walk across it which was kind of disturbing.

The Loft is a favorite in town, mostly older couples and families. Their menu consists of many American favorites, burgers, American chop suey, steaks, and it's all fine. Nothing special really, just regular food. The building it's in looks like an old barn with a grain silo attached, different, but on the down side, there are no windows, so it's very dark inside. I'll update my review soon though, one of my friends is getting married this summer and her mom is throwing her bridal shower here. They have a large room in back that they use for extra seating when needed and it can also be used for functions. I'll let you know how the food/service goes at the shower. But for now, it's good food, moderately priced, I'd recommend it.
(3)Effie H.
The Loft is pretty good, I have only been once though, so I can't say much...But you can tell The Loft has "regulars". I had the lobster mac and cheese which was great. It was rich and full of lobster chunks and you could just feel the pounds be added to your body. =-) The atmosphere is, meh. Don't go there for atmosphere. However, the one issue I had was the wait and parking... We had called to see if they do reservations the night before we were to go and the girl on the phone said no. Come the next day we were told we should have made reservations...seems like a disconnect amongst hostesses. Also, the night we were there, there were 3 different hostess and they were all lack luster on the personality department. The parking lot is very small for a place that holds alot of folks. Never the less, I would go back for the lobster mac and cheese. BTW The Loft is owned by the same guy who owns Joe Fish, so, park in that lot!
(3)Mark A.
I used to frequent the Loft a few years ago--I remeber it being really good. I returned with a big group of people a few weeks ago, and everything was bland, not as I remembered it. Bread was still as delicious as ever (although our server forgot to bring the butter) but the meals just weren't as good as I remembered them..
(2)Matt P.
They have a pretty extensive menu, offering a variety of entrees and apps. We ordered the buffalo tenders, which were good but not great. I ordered the ultimate grilled cheese and my wife got the lobster mac and cheese. Both meals were good. The bad thing was the beer selection. They only had a few beers on draft and when I ordered a Harpoon IPA, I actually got a Winter Warmer. So that was a little rough. The wait was over an hour and I didn't really think it was worth the wait. The food is good but not great. The service was ok, our server breezed by our table every now and then but wasn't really too attentive.
(3)Rick L.
Great selection on the menu, and we always have a coupon for a discount on our meal. I don't think we've ever had a bad meal here, and the chowder is great.
(4)Michael S.
Awesome food and great drinks!!! I was there with my brother and a friend earlier in the week and it was great. The downstairs pub area was really cozy with some high top tables on one side of the bar, where we sat, and a fireplace going on the other side of the room. The staff was very friendly and helped us pick out some great appetizers to snack on. We started with garlic and parmesan calamari and some drinks. I had a Grey Goose dirty martini with blue cheese stuffed olives. The martini was perfect and the olives just put it over the top. The 3 of us had Lobster mac & cheese, baby back ribs, and haddock parmesan. My brother loved his baby back ribs and I had the haddock which tasted great. We are definitely going back.
(5)Kate D.
I love this place. The interior is definitely cool and the food is pretty good! It's a little on the pricey side but not too bad if you don't plan on staying and ordering drinks (which I did). The bartender was great - fun and personable and I'd definitely visit again.
(4)Ellen A.
Took my inlaws out for dinner on a Sat. night. I tried the lobster mac 'n cheese. Had seen it on Phantom Gourmet and couldn't resist it from the description. Absolutely delicious, lots of lobster meat...shouldn't have but ate every bite. A bit pricey though. Everyone said the other meals were good 3 got sirloin and shrimp and one chicken pot pie. service was ok although not much interaction with such a confusing, huge menu...regulart menu, separate laminated menu, piece of paper w/specials, thick drink menu.
(3)Brian G.
Jeffrey H said it the same I was just going to..."This place couldn't be any more average". I had the lobster and steak special. Lobster was kinda below average for New England and the steak was very average. Nothing amazing. They aren't accommodating too much and won't give the customer a little slack if they ask for something that isn't exactly how the menu is. I really feel like this place is a 2, the atmosphere sucks and is boring, trashy waitresses, and food was boring. It's like hotel food, just not in a hotel.
(2)Mike D.
Great American Fare. The sweet potato chips are phenomenal. The famous Lobster mac and cheese is just ok with flavor, but a good portion of lobster. The wedge salad was one of the best i have ever had. The blue cheese dressing was so mild it was great. I also tried the pork dish that the have. it was so juicy and cooked to perfection. Cant wait to go back and try it again.
(4)Jeffrey H.
This place couldn't be any more average. There's nothing really wrong with it except for the fact that in a town that is nothing but white people, BMW's, and good restaurants...well...I'd go some place else. Serving your traditional American style dining with a cool atmosphere (literally the building is a barn/hay loft) it doesn't really have much going for it in comparison to what's around. Hit Joe Fish next door for seafood or Orzo across the street for Italian. They are much better and offer the quality white folk you're looking for - ya know, the hearty ones you read about in Readers Digest.
(3)Tina C.
We went here with a medium size group of 8, after the wait at Joe Fish proved too long...tellingly, the Loft was able to seat us immediately. I noticed the lobster mac and cheese on the menu (hard to miss, framed and bolded and everything) and it mentioned it was featured in the "Phantom Gourmet". I have no idea who or what the "Phantom Gourmet" is but it sounded impressive, so that's what I ordered. Boy, what a let-down! I was served a HUGE baking dish of overcooked pasta swimming in approximately a full inch of oil and grease. The (admittedly sizeable) chunks of lobster on top were rubbery and tough and other than grease and salt there were no flavors at all. I managed to eat enough of this mess to ruin my appetite for anything else, but at least two thirds of the dish were left by the time I was done. This should have caused some concern with the server in a well-run restaurant, but she cleared my plate without any additional comment or question and presented me with an (unasked for) take-out box containing the left-overs. There may have been better choices on the menu for me, but I can't recommend this restaurant based on the lack of service alone.

I think I'm still jaded towards the dreadful overpriced experience at Sam Stein's in Lexington (not to mention general apathy towards mine, or anyone's complaints). That said we tried The Loft last night as a pre-anniversary surprise and rather enjoyed it. I agree with the prior comments that there's really nothing memorable about it aesthetically. It is most certainly a townie place for the old-timers. The paper napkins were a huge turn off. Our waitress was on the ball, always had water filled and did a great job in service. D had the lobster Mac and Cheese and enjoyed every bite. I was dubious at first looking at the price of said macaroni and cheese until it was brought out. There was a generous amount of lobster and a real honest to goodness home made cheese sauce. I ordered the wet aged Porterhouse steak. I have only had dry aged beef before this and was told I'd quickly become a fan of the wet aged process. I have to agree, except for a steak I had at Cotton in Manchester, NH I can't recall the last time I had a tenderer, grilled exactly as ordered steak. The price of $23.00 was more than worth it (especially after the overpriced leathery abomination at Sam Stein's for $45.00) The mashed potatoes were hearty, well seasoned and didn't need a gravy of any sort to boast their flavor. We also had an appetizer i can't say that I've seen anywhere before. It was a Buffalo Cheese Stick. It was pepper jack AND bleu cheese rolled into a stick and battered in a spicy coating. It was a bit lackluster on presentation but really satisfying in flavor. So overall it was a great experience. The menu had well prepared food with recognizable favorites but no innovation. I'd go back.

My wife and I ate at the bar Sunday night. The lady bartender was pleasant but she didn't know ANYTHING on the menu or what types of vodka they had. My wife asked for Tito's vodka. After an exhaustive 5 minute search she decided they did not have it. My wife said it was ok and then asked for Absolute vodka: once again a 5 minute search, but this time she found it. Everything we ordered required US to show her the menu item and read the description. Total confusion is the only way to describe it. I am sorry if she was thrust into that position as she didn't have a clue, but it put a real damper on our dinner. Other than that everything was fine.
(1)David L.
Consistent failure. We keep returning hoping for improvements but no luck. Steak came out over-cooked (gray) and cold, cold veggies too. So the steak went back and my son ate his dinner alone. The visit prior my medium rare burger was burned and the same dance ensued with same manager. Both time no offer of a credit, free drink, appetizer to hold me over. Totally lame. Save your hard earned money and go elsewhere.
(1)Tiffany V.
Food is decent but they should really learn how to pour a Guinness. Don't serve it if you aren't going to pour it correctly.
(3)Christy G.
Amazing food , atmosphere and drinks !! I loved the way I felt being here. We were seated upstairs. Next time I go I would like to be seated down below and check out the band. Things I did not like- being seated upstairs I felt like we were forgotten. It seemed like it took a very long time to get our food. I felt like the staff were not very friendly
(4)William R.
First impression, the kitchen door was opened and the floor was littered with debris. I proceeded to the front entrance which had cigarette butts and trash all around the front entrance. Potato skins were under cooked and flavorless. Next the entree;broiled scallops, tendons were not removed;very lazy; and no seasoning at all. How do we make food taste good chef? Salt and Pepper, it's not that complicated. The crew at the Phantom have this place wrongly categorized. Comfort food is very simple. People who like this restaurant must have had too many cocktails during their meal!!! I would avoid this place if you want a decent meal.
(2)brian c.
Came here last Saturday. Service was prompt and friendly. My only gripe was that my steak was overcooked. I asked for medium and basically got well done. Everything else was fine and I really liked the rolls and cornbread provided at the beginning of the meal. The restaurant was converted from an old barn. It is cozy inside. would probably come back again.

Dennis and I tried the Loft by fluke. It was raining HARD and we were looking for EVENFALL but it was hard to see in the rain and dark and we stumbled upon THE LOFT. The parking lot was full and it looked busy and rustic since it was an old post and beam barn. The teenaged hostess told us it was a 30-45 minute wait and gave us a beeper which we took along to the crowded bar with flat screen TV's. The downstairs was a bar all full so we had to wait to find a space to crowd in and get a drink. This was not Club Cafe so getting shoulder to shoulder with some moldy metrosexual was completely out of the question. OK...2 drinks 1 lemonade and 1 vodka tonic $14.00. After a while, after reading the menu..our beeper goes alive. We head upstairs to the old post and beam loft and are seated at a 4 chair table in the middle of the room. Service was spotty. We had to ask for water, bread, more silverware (after the appetizer) and drinks as well. The menu consisted of soups, salads, lots of steaks and chops, chicken parm, fish fry, rack of lamb, shrimp scampi, burgers, lobster mac-n-cheese. I had "The Wedge" which was a quarter wedge of iceberg lettuce topped with sliced tomato, bacon, blue cheese and 2 asparagus spears. This was actually a very nice presentation and well seasoned. Who doesn't love bacon? I then choose then special of a steak topped with shrooms which cam with butternut squash and mashed potato. It was decent . I bit rare for what I ordered. Dennis had a steak too which was decent. The loft was quite cool. It had the ceiling fans on and it was raining cats and dogs in this late October evening. I was chilly. Do you think I should be chilly? Our evening there ended sort of interesting as we ran into the president of our board of directors and her partner. Small world!
(3)J C.
Upgraded my review. The food and service has been very good over the past year or so. I'd definitely recommend eating here. The sirloin steak, steak tips and lobster mac and cheese are very good.
(4)Kristin P.
My husband and I have been here a few times. The food is good, however we are big beer drinkers and the beer selection is lacking. The last time we were here we ordered two beers and the taps were switched...we didn't get what we ordered. Disappointing! The service is okay, the atmosphere is good. We haven't been in awhile, thinking of giving it another try.
(3)Eric And Sara D.
I give this place a four star rating. The main reason has to be the service. The girls at the Loft are always pleasant and always attentive and actually very funny if you are a regular. It is better than a chain for food but a 5 star for seafood. I think the Surf and Turf is awesome! This is a very easy place to get to and plenty of parking. I never have a bad meal here and I have been going here regularly for 8 years. Lobster Mac and cheese can't be beat and I know you can't finish a Nor'easter dessert!
(4)Jim C.
This was our first time going here. The location is good, and easy to find just look for the old barn. The inside is setup with LOTS of up and down steps. For the prices of Steaks I had hoped for more. It is completely average, maybe a bit better than one of the local chains. We started with skins w/chili. REAL potatoes not just frozen skins and decent chili. Next I had a Wedge salad, no meat. VERY good and highly recommended. Great Blue Cheese! Wife had the side salad which was boring, as it is at most places. Then came the meals. I had the chops and applesauce. Waitress offered, and I asked for them medium, got them well done,. Yukon mashed potatoes were a bit dry, mixed veggies had NO seasoning at all. Wife got the Chicken, Broccoli, Alfredo. VERY! good! Tons of flavor and the Alfredo sauce tasted homemade? All and all not bad. The Waitress left us alone, and refilled waters as needed without asking, which is the way I like it. She cleared silverware after the app., but looked disgruntled as she took our salad silverware (second set) off the used plates and left them for us to use with or meals.............I thought this was a Steak and Chophouse? Only other beef was no real napkins, just over sized paper napkins. 2 bars, one up one down. Downstairs bar was packed watching the various games until around 8:00 when it suddenly was barren. Upstairs had a mother with 2 VERY young kids eating at the bar, maybe 7 years old!?! Not bad, wouldn't go out of my way to go back, unless we were contemplating one of the chains in the area.

This is a good restaurant, but I don't get all warm inside like some of the other yelpers do. The Loft must be a huge sponsor of the Phantom Gourmet show as they're mentioned on nearly broadcast. The food is good but nothing out of the ordinary. The "Famous lobster mac & cheese" is very good, but you can now find that nearly everywhere. Every time I go I end up in the upstairs dining room. It's a bit bright & can get loud. I haven't explored the other parts of the restaurant but I think you can eat downstairs as well & that seems a bit more intimate. Portions are good, service is average, prices are ok. It seems to always be busy here. Parking lot could be bigger, it seems like I always get the last spot. It's not a bad place, but theres better places to eat.
(3)Kathy K.
I had a nice relaxing lunch here today, New Years Day 2009. If I could I'd assign 2 1/2 stars, not quite a 3 star restaurant but definitely not a 2 star establishment. The Loft is a barn style restaurant which has a nice atmosphere with barn board walls and old style beams. The menu is traditional american fare, burgers, salads, chicken sandwiches. (I didn't really look at the entrees, I was out for lunch). Both my dining companion and I had the bacon & cheese chicken sandwich. Our food was very good, prepared perfectly but nothing out of the ordinary. The service was slow but we weren't in a rush so it didn't matter to us. I'd eat here again.
(3)Kelli F.
My husband and I got a coupon in the mail for ten dollars off to try the loft, and we were glad we did! The steak tips were tender, cooked just right and the sauce was savory. The service was great, other than waiting a bit too long to be intorduced to our server. The atmosphere was homey, with a log cabin feel. We were pleased with our meal, the service and the bill, as it was reasonable for 2 people to go out and enjoy dinner!

I was very excited to eat at the Loft but found the entire event disappointing. The building has a lot of character and the staff was friendly; however, the food was not up to par, especially for the price. The rolls and atmosphere are fabulous. I had the filet with a loaded baked potato, salad and a side a veggies. The filet was the worst piece of meat I have ever had. While they cooked it well, the steak was cold and my side of sauted onions were not clear and somewhat crisp, but rather limp and cloudy white. I let them know about my steak and they put it back on the gril which made it a little warmer and now overbooked. I have eaten at MANY Restaurants and the same steak should NEVER be put back on the grill! The filet was flavorless, which is why I ALWAYS order a side of sauted onions in case the filet can't hold it's own. The baked potato had weird cheese and no butter but the bacon was good. My salad was your classic greens with 2 grape tomatoes and 3 cucumber slices - it was average. The side veggies were perfectly cooked, just a little crunch, but they were not warm either. The manager came over to apologize for the steak and offered a new steak ( which should have originally been brought out instead of my lifeless side of beef). My better half had the Steak and Oscar cake and said it was nothing special. A mere 2 stars for this disappointing steak house.

I went to the Loft with my husband for dinner. The setting was cute. It wasn't too busy for a Saturday night around 7:30. The service was prompt, almost too prompt with the entrees arriving before we had finished appetizers. I got the house salad and lobster mac and cheese appetizer. My husband got the cajun steak and pasta with the clam chowder. The house salad was all right, pretty standard, lettuce and tomato, not much else. The lobster mac and cheese was good, but I expected better, since I had heard such great reviews. There were only 5 chunks of lobster, but it was tasty. The pasta and cheese sauce were good, but needed salt. It lacked flavor. There were no bread crumbs on top, which I missed. I have definitely had better mac n' cheese elsewhere (Stephanie's on Newbury and the Publick House make the best). My husband's steak was great. The sauce was awesome, and the steak cooked perfectly. The clam chowder was thick, creamy and flavorful, but nothing spectacular. For dessert I got the Nor'Easter, half portion. Thank God I got the half portion, and the appetizer portion of the Mac N Cheese because both were HUGE anyway!! The Nor'Easter came with 1 scoop of vanilla, 1 scoop of chocolate ice cream, brownies, chocolate chip cookies, hot fudge and caramel sauce and whipped cream. I got it without the fruit items. It was good, and I ate the entire thing, but it honestly wasn't phenomenal. It would have tasted better had the brownies been warmed up (they were cold), and had the cookies been homeade (they tasted like the hard Famous Amos cookies from a box). It was a cool looking dessert and tasted good, but I'd probably order something else next time. I don't know if I'd go to the Loft again, but I'd definitely recommend to give it a try.

The Celebrity Steak is awesome. Good spot for a steak. Certainly not prime steak like the big steak houses but the Celebrity Steak was fantastic. For $25, it is a great value for the quality. The sister restaurant next door Joe Fish has a Shrimp Scampi Steak that is similar as a special sometimes but has Shrimp Scampi over the steak rather than the onion sauce.

Would have rated it a 4 but for an issue with the service we received the night we went. After a short wait, we sat down, ordered our drinks and ordered our dinner at the same time. The drinks came out promptly. So far, so good. But we waited, waited and waited for the salads to come out that were supposed to come with our dinner. We see tables around us that came after us getting their soup/salads and/or main entree, and we are still waiting for our salads. We try getting the attention of our waitress but it proves impossible given how busy the place is. Our main entrees come out, and we remind the waitress (and the manager? since there was someone else who helped her bring out the dishes) that we were supposed to have salads with our dinner and we never received them. Also, one meal had mashed potatoes on the plate when the person who had ordered them specifically had requested vegetables in lieu of the mashed. The missing veggies are brought out, as are our salads. However, that is a major pet peeve of mine at a restaurant, when entrees are brought out when you still haven't had time to finish or enjoy (or in this case) eat your appetizers (or in our case, salads). I hate having my entree get cold while I am still trying to finish an app. We later saw the table who sat down next to us get their salads asap, and the waitress telling them they were backed up in the kitchen and she apologized, which is what she should have done with us. We were fine with waiting for the main entree since the place was slammed, but at least tell us what is going on and give us the salads so we have something to eat while waiting for dinner. As for the food, two of us ordered the lobster mac and cheese, one of us ordered the steak tips, and one of us ordered the pork chops and vinegar peppers. I really enjoyed the lobster mac and cheese, lots of lobster. My only complaint, and this is really minor, is that the cheese sauce was a little runny and it made me wonder if they had used alfredo sauce as part of the three cheese blend. Still, it was delish and I scarfed the entire dish down. The price was right too, 4 entrees, plus two glasses of wine, for around $95. Would definitely go back again.

The Loft is a place that we go maybe once a year. The burgers are okay, and the lobster mac & cheese is really good. Overall, the place is not very memorable but the food is decent. I can't even think of anything else to say about it.

Food was good, compares ok to 99 style restaurant. Ate downstairs was somewhat dark, but sevice was attentive. I has the queen cut prime rib which was excellent as were the fries. Spouse had American chop suey which was also excellent. Salads was just ok.

Great place. Nice atomsphere, cozy bar with low ceilings and a rustic feel. The bartender last night was very helpful, friendly and outgoing. The food was great too, free homemade potato chips are great, the mac & cheese is a perfect winter dish. The bar is big and rectangular, so you can have a conversation with anyone there. Bathrooms were clean and well maintained. Only downsides, the hostess didn't even look up from her phone (busy texting) when I walked in and the draft beer seclection is predictable with nothing special on tap. Other than that, I really enjoy this place. Everyone there seemed to be having a great time, both staff and patrons.
